5 Of The Biggest Mistakes Most People Make When  Selecting Storage.

Storing valuable stuff with weak security.
Storing valuable stuff in damp (condensation inside shipping containers) storage so not fit for purpose?
Storing valuable stuff at a facility where there are no permanent staff to help with questions or to check security?
Paying for far more space that they need for their stuff? I.e., the lockup is too big.
No ‘early booking’ system to hold it free when they don’t need it for a few weeks?

Here Are The 5 Things:

At our place all lockups and or areas are individually electronically security alarm monitored including occasional guard patrol – insurance companies love it. That means no one can enter this facility unless they have a unique swipe-card. Therefore, only customers who are allocated a swipe card can get into their lockup and can come and go at their own convenience 7 days a week. Also here 17 CCTV cameras are watching over the facility 24/All activities are backed up to a 10-day rotating hard drive. Some storage facilities only give their customer a PIN number to use at the entrance gate, but this offers almost no security as that customer can give the number to 50 of their mates. On Tuesday 21st July 2020 the local newspaper reported that the local container storage facility had 5 shipping containers broken into and stuff stolen because of this very reason.
95% of our facility is purpose built for self-storage. We use the same construction as a modern home which means your stuff will not get damp from condensation – as happens in shipping container storage. 5% of our storage is shipping containers and we tell our customers they are fine so long as the stuff being stored inside them is of little value or can take a bit of dampness. We guarantee your stuff will stay condensation-free inside one of our purpose-built lockups but not inside one of our shipping containers.
Because this business is locally owned and operated, we are available to help and give advice every weekday - except statutory holidays. However, even on weekends and statutory holidays you’ll be able to get us at home on the phone 80% of the time. This business is not a bit-on-the-side for us – it’s our sole employment and it keeps us busy. Other facilities in Masterton use storage as an add-on so generally you’ll need to make an appointment to meet them on site.
Masterton Self-Storage has 277 individual lockups from that we have 27 different sizes. This means we’ll usually be able to get you the best size you need so you won’t be buying more space than you need which means you won’t be wasting money either. Also 8 office rooms.
Because we are usually 95% full if you just turn up on the day you need storage chances are, we won’t be able to offer you the best size, or perhaps anything at all. To get around this we offer a service that allows you to book for up to 2 weeks prior to when you need it for free.

Other Stuff

The real truth that shipping container self-storage companies hope you never find out.

You cannot build a house without putting building paper under the roof because of condensation. Shipping containers are also made from steel but do not have building paper to protect from this kind of dampness.

Just 2% of our storage is shipping containers and we tell customers they are fine so long as the stuff you are storing in them can take a bit of dampness.
